Frequently asked questions

Do I need a ShutterBase account to view a shared event?

Section titled “Do I need a ShutterBase account to view a shared event?”

No — public event links are viewable by anyone with the URL, no sign-in required. See Sharing events publicly.

ShutterBase is a Progressive Web App, so recently viewed content is available even with a spotty connection, though creating or editing data requires a connection to sync.

How do I flag gear that’s broken or needs cleaning?

Section titled “How do I flag gear that’s broken or needs cleaning?”

See Gear attention flags — flag it from the item’s edit screen and it’ll surface on your dashboard until cleared.

Why isn’t my Ready count matching what I expect?

Section titled “Why isn’t my Ready count matching what I expect?”

The Ready count combines three sources — manually flagged gear, unreturned checklist items, and expiring warranties — deduplicated so one item isn’t counted twice. See Locker stats for the full breakdown.

What’s the difference between the Inspiration Board and the Pose Library?

Section titled “What’s the difference between the Inspiration Board and the Pose Library?”

The Inspiration Board is per-event — photos specific to one client or wedding. The Pose & Prompt Library is personal and reusable across every shoot you do.

Why can’t I check off a return item on a checklist?

Section titled “Why can’t I check off a return item on a checklist?”

Return items unlock once the same item has been marked packed — see Packing & returning gear. This keeps the return list honest to what actually went out on the job.

Section titled “I signed up with Google — can I also set a password?”

Not from within ShutterBase. Accounts created with Google Sign-In manage their password through Google; the Security section in Settings only applies to email/password accounts.
